 Meaningful memorialization can be many things.  Here are some suggested guidelines to keep in mind when choosing a monument:

• The memorial should tastefully reflect the "story" and uniqueness of the individual whose name appears on it.
  
• The memorial should reflect a positive emotion.
  
• It should be artistically and realistically rendered.
  
• It should be extremely durable and require little maintenance.
  

  One or more of the following can accomplish this:

• A few words that describe a special hobby or passion.
  
• A photo or carved pictorial representation.
  
• A memorial of granite in a favorite color.
  
• A granite from a special place (home state or country).
  
• A special shape (heart, cross, mountain or?).
• A well-chosen verse, epitaph or scripture.
• A carved or sculptured design conveying what words cannot concisely express
• A graphic emblem or symbol with a unique pertinence.
  
• Bronze lettering or attachments.
  
• A particularly appropriate letter font.
  
• An artful and creative arrangement.

The Significance Of A Monument

 Why do people want to erect memorials?  What prompts them to build monuments? The answer is found in the definition of the very word itself.  The root of the English word “monument” derives from the Latin word  “monere”  which means,  “to remind.”
